Sage Financial Management all types of protection plans including critical illness cover.
Critical Illness Cover is usually available as an addition to all term assurance plans but can be bought on a standalone basis. Critical illness provides a lump sum benefit / income in the event of diagnosis of certain critical illnesses, such as Heart Attack, Stroke, Transplant, Blindness, Total & Permanent Disability and so on. The illnesses covered will be specified in the policy along with any exclusions and limitations – these differ between insurers.
Examples of other conditions that might be covered include:-
- Heart Attack
- Coronary artery by-pass surgery
- Alzheimer’s disease
- Kidney failure
- A major organ transplant
- Multi sclerosis
- HIV / AIDS (contracted by blood transfusion or during an operation)
Due to the fact that the incidence of a condition may decrease over time and both the diagnosis and treatment may improve over time, the financial need to cover some illnesses deemed critical a decade ago are no longer deemed necessary today.
